A Microbrewery with a purpose.
Let's take a look into the variety of beverages we offer and look at the famed history of COEDO.
Kyodoshoji Corporation which eventually gave rise to COEDO Brewery, originally started as an organic farming initiative in the late 1970s. This agricultural site grew up alongside the city of Kawagoe, Japan which was committed to creating safe, reliable, and delicious produce.
In 1996, local farmers succeeded in brewing a beer derived from the delicious sweet potatoes in the Kawagoe fields. This idea sprouted from the initiative to reduce food waste as these sweet potatoes were too unshapely or too large to sell in the local Supermarkets.
COEDO Brewing therefore was born out of a commitment to sustainable and organic Japanese farming practices.
To perfect their craft, COEDO invited a true Brewing Master, Christian Mitterbauer IV who comes from a long line of Braumeisters to mentor them. For a full five years, the artisan brewers at COEDO worked alongside Mitterbauer and inherited his pride in strict, time-tested craftsmanship and a passion for keeping traditional techniques alive.
Today, COEDO prides itself on their artisan techniques from an authentic braumeister paired with fine quality ingredients to to create a unique brew that COEDO can truly call their own. With our offering of five different unique and premium COEDO beers, you'll be bound to find the perfect pairing of flavors creating an unique experience only accessible with our Teishoku! Whether it be a nice citrusy COEDO Kyara with our Salmon Carpaccio or a light and crisp COEDO Ruri with our savory Toji's, let our restaurant be your flavor playground!

JYUGOYA: THE MID AUTUMN HARVEST MOON FESTIVAL
Have you ever celebrated Jyugoya (known formally as Tsukimi)? A longstanding Japanese holiday dedicated to honoring the Harvest Moon that dates back to 794 AD, families would cruise the sea at night to admire the beautiful reflection of the moon off the dark waters while reading tanka poetry. Since ancient times, the Japanese people have agreed that the eighth solar month was the best time to view the moon in it's full beauty as the moon aligns with the Earth and Sun in such a way that it's brightness is exemplified.
Traditionally, on the evening of the full moon, families would gather together and decorate their surroundings with pampas grass while serving seasonal treats such as white rice dumplings, edamame, sake and chestnuts as an offering for an abundant harvest. Prior to 1684, the Japanese calendar was actually arranged so that the full moon would be on the 13th day of each month. Even when the entire moon isn't visible, tsukimi parties are still held with the term "Mugetsu" being used to describe this event which means "no-moon".
This year you can join in on the festivities with some of our Signature Matcha Warabi Mochi paired with our most popular full bodied Sencha Matsuri Green Tea for only $7! (Offer valid only at our Palo Alto / Cupertino Locations from 10/2/17 - 10/6/17) Whether or not you're celebrating Jyugoya, everyone can celebrate having great food with great family and friends this year!
